Tributes paid to young dad killed in crash as police officers make two arrests

The girlfriend of a young father who died in a crash has paid tribute to her “best friend”.

Arry Petch, 18, suffered multiple injuries after the car he was in smashed into a wall and flipped upside down in Aylesham near Canterbury.

Police say the black Mercedes Benz was travelling from Nonington towards Snowdown when the driver lost control in Holt Street at about 2.50am on Sunday.

Mr Petch, who was from the Dover area, died at the scene.

A 41-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to a London hospital for treatment. A 22-year-old man, who was also in the car, suffered minor injuries.

Both men, also from Dover, were arrested in connection with the crash, and have since been released while the investigat­ion continues.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Mr Petch’s girlfriend, Olivia Manning, posted a tribute on Face- book.

She wrote: “Sadly this morning I lost the love of my life and my best friend, Arry. You was my world and the best daddy to Lillie. I can’t believe you have gone.

“I just want everyone to know myself and Arry’s family appreciate all the messages but would like some space at this precious time.You was my best friend, you gave me and Lillie everything.”

Floral tributes have since been left at the scene of the tragedy. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who saw the vehicle before the crash or who may have dashcam footage is asked to call police on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent. pnn. police. uk, quoting MC/ MW/107/18.
