Formidable total proves too big

Littlebourne piled on the runs in a huge win at Chislehurst & West Kent.

They racked up 375-9 in their 50 overs with three players making half-centuries and several others contributing. Steve Davies top-scored with 80 and Joshua Gould made 77 after Sully Gould had earlier chipped in with 56.

Piers Hurn took 4-71 for Chislehurst, who ended up losing by 213 runs.

Shaun Loomer (3-13) and Joshua Gould (3-19) helped skittle them out for 162 as Littlebourne reached the halfway stage of the season in second place.

They’re 16 points behind leaders Bromley Town, who posted 274-5 away to Rodmersham before bowling the hosts out for 172.

Hartley Country Club could not have made a worse start to their game against Faversham. Their top four batsmen were all dismissed without scoring to leave Hartley 1-4 and staring down the barrel of another defeat.

A patient 52 by Russell Bennett steadied the ship and they posted 165 all out to at least give themselves a chance. Bennett’s innings proved to be decisive as Faversham crashed to 89 all out in reply, Sam Weller (3-14) and John Mitchell (3-26) doing most of the damage with the ball for Hartley.

The Roebucks chased down 225 to beat Offham by five wickets. Tom Evans (74 not out) and Graham Razey (55) looked to have put Offham in a decent position as they closed on 224-6. But it wasn’t enough as The Roebucks, thanks largely to Tom Monson (86) and Deepan Patel (50), eased to 226-5 in the 40th over.

Betteshanger Colliery Welfare were unable to field a full side away to Bexley 3rds and it cost them.

The nine men of Betteshanger could only manage 97 between them and Bexley raced to victory by eight wickets in just 13.3 overs.

Dan Bygrave (36 not out) and Sam Brady (41 not out) were together at the end as Bexley wrapped up their fifth win of the season with ease.
