Bus service not up to scratch

-

I think we are all aware of the attitude Arriva has towards the abysmal ‘service’ it gives passengers - like it or lump it.

Last Wednesday July I waited for the number 8 in Upper Fant Road. What appeared? A minibus - very full, no apparent means of ventilation, on one of the hottest days.

One lady, who had just had her arm put in plaster at the hospital after an accident, was really suffering, feeling faint and saying she had to get off.

Several people advised her to do so in Westree Road so she could just walk round to the pharmacy or surgery.

The driver, who understandably was also suffering from the heat - and not in a very good mood -should never have been told to use such an inappropriate vehicle. It is pointless contacting the company as they obviously do not have sufficient staff to deal with the thousands of complaints. On my return later I waited for the 13.52. The minibus was parked showing number 8 but was taken out of service.

The Nu-Venture buses are much more reliable - when there isn’t a hole in a road somewhere.
