No let-up as top three all earn victories

Division 4

-

There was no change at the top of Division 4 after the top three sides all won at the weekend.

Tom Henson had a weekend to remember for Staplehurst, hitting 125 runs in their win over Bapchild.

He followed that up the following day with a personal best 135 not out for the Sunday side.

His efforts on the Saturday helped second-placed Staplehurst post 358-9 in an innings that also saw both Gregor Paterson (61) and Caleb Futter (52 not out) hit half centuries.

Bapchild were then bowled out for 213. James Longhurst, batting at No.6, showed defiance with a knock of 67 not out.

Kings Hill successfully chased down 173 at Walmer to maintain their lead in the table.

Walmer, who sit third bottom, lost their four leading batsmen to Ian Playfoot, returning figures of 4-42. Stuart Milroy (31) top scored for the Deal side.

In reply, Kings Hill (176-4) knocked off the runs in 42.3 overs.

Jack Raffles (38) was their top scorer.

Third place Frindsbury also completed a run chase, hunting down 190 against Medway rivals High Halstow. Ciaran Fredericks (55) was top scorer for High Halstow but his efforts were in vain.

Half-centuries from Joah Duane (51) and Dave Coyle (62) laid the foundation and captain Robert Sait (33 not out) guided them home. Addington Village fell 21 runs short of the total set by Downham & Bellingham. Downham’s Joe Bumstead (62) and Harry Purbrick

(71) were both dismissed by Adam Dooley but not before helping them on to 242-6. Jack Sopp, batting at No.7, was Addington’s top scorer, hitting his second best score of the season with 51 runs as his team were beaten. Rainham lost by five wickets to Old Colfeians in a midtable clash.

Michael Tyrer was bowled out one run short of a halfcentury for Rainham after getting trapped leg before and his was the best knock of the lot.

Alex Lorimer took 5-36 as Rainham were bowled out for 165.

The Old Boys (168-5) got home with plenty to spare, winning in the 39th over.
