Pre-school earns top marks from Ofsted

-

Ofsted inspectors have given a Maidstone nursery an “outstanding” rating.

Bright Horizons Turkey Mill Day Nursery and Preschool received the grade in all four key areas: the effectiveness of its leadership and management; the quality of teaching; children’s development, behaviour and welfare, and assessment and outcomes for the little ones. The inspectors described staff as inspirational role models who had superb relationships with the children.

The report added: “Staff get to know children extremely well and keep them enthralled in fascinating learning experiences. “Children are incredibly happy and confident and have amazingly high levels of positive self-worth and well-being.” The report noted the children were involved in making their own healthy lunches and even classroom resources, such as whittling wood and lead to make pencils. Parents were kept well informed and involved in their children’s learning and the youngsters soon developed impressive writing skills, the inspector concluded.

Nursery manager Vicky Thompson said: “I couldn’t be more pleased.

“Our team have worked exceptionally hard to ensure we offer our children and families a safe and inspiring environment to grow, learn and develop.

“The report truly reflects the passion we have for what we do, to deliver exceptional care and education every day, in every room, for every child.”

The nursery, off Ashford Road, has 115 children on its roll, aged four and under.

It was also deemed to be “outstanding” across the board at its last inspection in 2013.
