A rootin’ tootin’ good time at care home

-

Residents at a Maidstone care home were giddied up by a Wild West style hoedown earlier this month. The Maidstone Care Centre, in Boxley Road, took a step back in time to the age of cowboys and Indians at a themed event for residents, their families, staff and visitors. Maintenance officer Brian Thornton created a saloon bar backdrop, which was finished with hay bales, reins, a saddle and a wagon, all created by the residents.

The day was topped off by a performance by Debbie Haze who sang country and western hits and a dance show from the Melody Marshall School of Dance, based in Trellyn Close.

One of the residents, Gerry Jones, said: “It was a great party, it’s a shame it had to end.”

The home provides residential dementia care, nursing care and end of life care to up to 57 older people. number plates dangerous parking and traffic light jumpers, all with no deterrent. So young learner, learn the skills become a great driver go on to do defensive and economic training then IAM.

After that you can let it all unfold around you because you will be in control in the driving seat as many are not. Then go to Brands Hatch and do some track days and off roading for fun. Driving is fun and not all drivers are rude or bad.

Maidstone I wrote this some years ago but it is even more relevant now. Outlook – ‘Gray’

The Curfew tolls a bell for Thee and me;

No lowing herds will wander o’er the leas.

The Government plans, together with its hicks,

To cover all the leas with piles of bricks.

Our rude forefathers in their hamlets sleep

Covered in concrete, all the more secure:

Soon, see Kent’s once so green and pleasant land

May be devoured by grey cement and sand:

And when no more the fields of grass one sees

The profit takers will be overseas.
