It is the most wonderful time of year and if you are looking for ways to celebrate why not head along to a Christmas market. With many taking place across the county here are just some happening near you. On Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24, Sissinghur­st Castle, in Biddenden Road, will play host to its annual market.

Families can sample local goods and enjoy live entertainm­ent and local bands playing across the weekend. Penshurst Place, in Tonbridge, has a whole range of festive activities planned including a market on the lawn overlookin­g the castle.

Seasonal gifts, toys, decoration­s and specialist food and drink will be on offer as well as nostaligic fairground rides and live music.

There will also be an interactiv­e Father Christmas panto-style performanc­e. All events run on weekends November 23 toDecember 15.

A yearly admission ticket, which starts from £25, will cover entry to the market and all future special events. Chartwell in Mapleton Road, Westerham will be hosting their Christmas event on November 21 to November 24.

There will be stalls selling hand made crafts, gifts and food stalls.

Visitors can discover fool-proof baking with the help of Cookietast­ic, who put all the ingredient­s for delicious artisan cookies into jars – all people have to do is pour into a bowl, add some eggs and butter and mix.

Indulge with delicious chocolate from Stas Chocolatie­r, who combine traditiona­l favourites with continenta­l chocolate making skills.

Handmade stylish hats from Fullabeani­es or designer hand knitwear from Cory Creations are on offer.

The market is free to browse, though normal admission applies to the gardens, exhibition and studio.
