Plans for homes make no sense

-

What on earth are Tonbridge and Malling council thinking in endorsing the application to build over 800 houses on the last green wedge between Maidstone and Aylesford?

Here in Ditton as with the rest of the county we pay substantial amount in rates for certain services from our council which presumably includes planning. Over the last few years what do we get in Ditton and Aylesford? Chaos corner, Hermitage Lane to A20.

This is caused in part by the unnecessary development on the corner, followed by the nightmare that is Hermitage Lane, made worse by the fact that Maidstone council, responsible for the top end, are obsessed with building on green field sites. I understand we are supposed to be protecting the environment for future generations - there’s not much of that happening here. I am not sure in whose interest the council are working, for it certainly is not the residents of Ditton and Aylesford.

I have driven in counties such as Shropshire, Herefordshire etc and whilst I know they do not have as many heavy lorries as there are on the Kent roads, it is a joy to drive on them.

When a pothole appears the local authority are on it as soon as one in mentioned.

Why oh why cannot this be the case in what was once known as the Garden of England?

I think the state of most of the roads in Kent is disgusting, yet a vast amount of money is being spent on making the M20 a ‘smart motorway’, which to my knowledge most people consider dangerous in every respect. It might pacify the average motorist if he could see work on filling holes going on around him but never, never do I see this work being undertaken.

Are they playing a game called ‘Spot the pothole filler?’

If so then the public will soon lose and give up.
