Jasper sets his new best

Jasper Emmanuel recorded a big personal best in the 60m sprint at the London Indoor Games.

The Medway & Maidstone AC under-17 athlete was one of several competing in the games. He followed up a 7.20sec with a 7.24 run. His time ranks him 15th in the UK this winter and promises a big step forward over 100m in the summer.

Also recording a swift time over 60m was Princes Asemota, who set a new best of 8.19 in the under-15 girls age group, ranking her 29th in the UK this winter.

There were also a number of personal and season bests over 60m from Evie Cameron (8.79), Cameron Isaac (8.43), Lucas Cameron (9.40), Casey Preston Lougheed (9.85) and Harlem Phoenix Lougheed (9.63).

It was a busy weekend for Charlotte de la Porte Godden, who contested the under-17 women’s 60m, 200m and 300m in the same afternoon, setting new bests at 60m (8.43) and 300m (46.15) as well as a season’s best of 28.15 in the 200m. Emily Moyle continued where she left off a fortnight ago, dipping under 10 seconds for the first time in the under-15 girls 60m hurdles and then on the following day setting a new best of 28.57 in the 200m as well as a season’s best of 8.45 in the 60m. There were also a number of good performanc­es over 200m from Evie Cameron (30.03), Lucas Cameron (30.88), Casey Preston Lougheed (33.93) and

Harlem Phoenix Lougheed (32.54).

In the field events there was a best of 1.45m for Grace O’Connell in the under-15 girls high jump. There was also a welcome return to indoor racing for Erin Hughes in the under-17 women’s 800m (2.35.34).
