Children’s fun day made maths look as easy as Pi
Numbers day was a fun addition to the week for pupils in Maidstone.
Children at East Borough Primary School dressed in mathsthemed costumes for a day of activities and play.
Outfits ranged from a number seven Uno card, to dice and one youngster dressed as pie, paying homage to the mathematical constant, Pi.
Even teachers got stuck in, with Liz Truman and Charlotte Buhagiar coming to school as two peas in a pod. The aim of the day was to celebrate numbers. Elsewhere in Maidstone, East Farleigh Primary School pupils were also celebrating the wonder of numbers. The group’s mathematics marathon saw the youngsters get up on their feet and show off their singing and dancing abilities.
They boogied to BBC’s Supermovers in the school hall.
All the children dressed up, from calculators to rulers and clocks. They also dabbled in some baking, which saw them make dominoes out of rectangular biscuits, decorated with Skittles sweets for the dots.
All the fun and activities raised £430 for the NSPCC. Seven-year-old Holly dressed as a school workbook, showing off her times tables and her neat writing. Of course, the costume displayed perfect multiplication and she scored herself full marks.
Head teacher Mark Rivers thought he was seeing double when five-year-old Benjamin turned up with a beard drawn on and wearing a waistcoat covered in numbers.
The pair posed for a photo to highlight the uncanny resemblance, with Mr Rivers dressed as a mobile phone.
Sam Saunders, nine, said: “Numbers day inspired me to do more maths.”
