People deserve better than BBC
I agree with Colin Bullen’s castigation of the BBC’s left-wing bias (July 9).
The extraordinary thing is that so would most of the BBC’s own staff, although they are unlikely to express themselves quite so robustly as Mr Bullen. The BBC is, by virtue of its public funding privileges, able to play a hugely influential part in the management and shaping of public opinion on important issues such as Brexit and climate change because it owns and controls the principal means of communication through which news and opinion is presented or suppressed.
The BBC seems to think that we all share its left-wing liberal values and that it is right to measure everything against its own superior vision of acceptable political and moral standards. We should be better served by a broadcaster which absorbs huge amounts of public money on the spurious basis that it is performing a public service.
