Smyth fails to halt leaders

An unbeaten 94 for Dartford’s John Smyth wasn’t enough to stop his side losing to Clubbie Cup leaders Leeds & Broomfield.

Opener George Davis hit 74 off 52 balls for Leeds (255-5) while Edward Scrivens added 82 and Max Aitken 49.

Dartford posted 206-8 in reply, losing by 49 runs.

The Mote sit second in the table and they beat Tenterden by 11 runs after restrictin­g the home side to 160-9 as they chased 171-9.

Minster claimed a sevenwicke­t win over Gravesend in a friendly at Gilbert Hall.

Kai Appleby retired on 51 not out for Minster as they looked to chase down 184. Noah McLennan (32), George Duggan (21), James White (37) and Cameron Bruce (21 not out) all scored runs. Manish Kumar (39) top scored for Gravesend.

Sevenoaks Vine met Tunbridge Wells for a friendly match and won by 11 runs at the Nevill Ground. Harry Houillon (48) and Oliver Durell (67) top scored for Sevenoaks. Chasing 226, Wells were bowled out for 215. Christian Davis (97) starred for the beaten side while Sam Stickler (53) hit a half-century. Lordswood (154-3) claimed a seven-wicket victory over Chislehurs­t & West Kent after successful­ly chasing down 150 in the friendly encounter.

The second fixture in the Corona Metropolit­an League took Beckenham down to Goddington Dene to play Orpington, where they sealed a 58-run victory.

William MacVicar (29), playing his first game of the season, started carefully for Beckenham. The inevitable fifty for Kent’s Alex Blake came in just 16 deliveries and he remained unbeaten on 59 with the final score 280-8. Orpington’s reply got away to a promising start but they soon slipped to 23-3 and were unable to recover.
