Sutton Valence School Headmaster Bruce Grindlay said on Thursday he was delighted more than 60% of his students had received
A* to B results despite the unprecedented difficult times of lockdown.
Lara Savage was the top achiever, collecting four A*s and is off to Cambridge to read veterinary science.
Tom Gray said he was “definitely happy” with his three As and one A*. His results will enable him to take up a place to read engineering at Durham, where he will be joined by classmate Noah Swain.
Noah said he was very happy with his two A*s and two As, but he had planned to appeal one result as he scored a higher mark in his mocks. He said the school had been very supportive during the difficult times.
Libby Cavell from Westwell, near Ashford, achieved two A*s and two As, but plans to defer university for a year after being offered a job. At Sutton Valence, 82 students were entered for A-levels. Of those, 85% achieved grades A to C, and 13% were at A*.
The pass rate was 98%. In addition all the students completed the Extended Project Qualification and all passed, with 80% at grades A* or A.
Oakwood Park Grammar School
After re-assessing the Government’s latest announcement on Monday, the school is delighted that two students will take up Oxford University places.
Kian Abbott will study English at Magdalen College and Roy Bourner will read Philosophy and Psychology at St John’s. James Godsmark who, with four A* grades and an A* in his EPQ, will take up Mathematics at Warwick University
Grace Haswell achieved three A*s and and an A*s in her EPQ and will study Sociology at Edinburgh, while Bradley Coomber got three A* grades and an A* in his EPQ and will study history at Exeter.
Aaron O’Shea will study History and Politics at Warwick with his A* and two As.
Other students who did well include Samuel Dascalescu (A*AA), Joshua Stone (A*AA) Max Williamson (A*A*A and A in EPQ).
Head Kevin Moody said ‘It has been an extraordinary situation. I am extremely proud of how students have handled it.”

Four students achieved straight A* and A grades, or equivalent in three subjects, last week’s results showed. They were Daniel Clayton, who will study mathematics at the University of Bristol, Lucy Dowd, who will study medicine at the University of Brighton, Jesse Fuller, who will study a masters in design engineering at Christ Church University in Canterbury, and Stephanie Jackson, who will study English and American literature at the University of Kent.
Jon Malone, the academy principal, said: “The students achieved these results in the most challenging circumstances, in which at a key point in their studies their normal learning routines were significantly disrupted.”
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls
A statement last week said: “We are very proud of the hard work, resilience and positivity of our Year 13 students. This has undoubtedly been an exceptionally challenging year.”
Pupils are off to Cambridge, UCL, Durham, Manchester and Southampton, or higher level degree apprenticeships.
Invicta Grammar School
More than two thirds of all grades were A*, A or B grades this year. Erin Cocker and Abbie Dixon both achieved three A* grades, while Charlotte Bezant, Marcus Leung, Isabel Philipou, Jenny Protheroe, Amy Thornton, Aimee Ward achieved at least two A* and 1 A grades.
