Kent Messenger Maidstone

‘Good to go’ status for safe events

-

Maidstone firm Craft In Focus has been awarded the We’re Good To Go industry standard from Visit England.

It confirms it is adhering to the Government’s Covid-19 re-opening guidance.

The award came just before it staged a successful fourday contemporary craft fair at Hever Castle.

Organiser Rob Chapman said: “We were delighted so many people enjoyed their visit and most importantly felt safe while shopping.”

All 160 exhibitors had designed and made the work on display.

Mr Chapman said: “They were selected for their individuality and innovation in contemporary design as well as outstanding technical ability. The UK has a wealth of individual and talented professional designer-makers and artists who produce wonderful original items that simply cannot be found among the mass-produced and imported goods on the high street.”

Tickets for the fair from September 10 to 13 were limited to restrict numbers but all sold out. It featured a oneway system throughout the gardens and within the semi open-sided marquees.

Each marquee had marshals monitoring admission and numbers within the marquees to ensure social distancing was maintained.

Visitors and exhibitors also wore face-coverings within the marquees.

Craft In Focus, which was set up 20 years ago, also stages craft events at the Royal Horticultural Society gardens. More information from
