Medical Negligence Specialist Appointed to National Panel
Alex Tengroth, senior solicitor with medical negligence specialists Fairweathers Solicitors LLP of Whitstable, has been appointed to the Clinical Negligence Panel of solicitors operated by Accident against Medical Accidents (‘AvMA’) a national charity which champions patient safety and justice.
He joins the firm’s founder, Nick Fairweather, on the AvMA panel, as 2 of only 7 solicitors to achieve the prestigious Panel membership throughout Kent.
Nick is, additionally, a member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel and has been since 1999.
Alex’s appointment takes effect from February 2021 and lasts for 5 years. Membership of these panels is only awarded to true specialists, with many years of experience, following a gruelling accreditation process. It brings with it a host of benefits such as being authorised to carry out legally aided work by the
Legal Aid Agency and fully delegated authority to operate After The Event Insurance policies to support Conditional Fee Agreement (‘no win no fee’) funding of cases.
Nick and Alex are part of a team of 5 full – time lawyers at Fairweathers working exclusively in medical negligence cases covering the whole range of clinical practice. Alex has particular expertise and experience in the areas of surgical errors, orthopaedic cases and ophthalmic claims, with a case load encompassing many claims of a high value. Nick specialises in birth trauma and other cases of maximum severity as well as fatality claims and representing clients at Inquests. Other members of the team sub-specialise in cases involving delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis of cancer, Accident & Emergency department claims, GP negligence, women’s health claims and claims on behalf of the elderly.
