On verge of BGT semi-finals
Dancers from Kent are facing an anxious wait this week to see if they have made it into the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
Maidstone A-level student James Bish last appeared on our screens on episode two of the ITV show, where he wowed the panel as part of dance group
IMD Legion and received a standing ovation from all four judges.
The live semi-finals air daily this week, but the talent show’s new format means it won’t be revealed what acts are battling for a spot in the final until the day of their performance.
James, a 16-year-old from Valley Park School, said: “Performing at The Palladium in front of the BGT judges was exciting and scary, but we smashed our performance and when the judges and audience gave us a standing ovation, it was quite overwhelming.
“I cannot wait to find out if we’ve made the live semi-finals, but whatever the outcome it’s been an incredible experience.”
Alongside James were Sittingbourne girls Ilana Wigg and Katie Mason.
The dancers, both Highsted Grammar pupils, have explained what it is like training for a semi-final they don’t even know they’ve reached yet.
Ilana said: “At the moment, we’re preparing for our exams at school while also trying to prepare for the possibility of being in the semi-finals.
“We’ve started making a set and we’re waiting to find out if we’re going to be through. So you’ll see on TV whether or not we are.”
IMD Legion performed a hiphop set with acrobatic-like tricks to a music mix made by Omar Ansah Awuah, the choreographer, CEO and founder of the group, at their audition, aired on Saturday, April 17.
Katie finished: “You don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t know what you’re waiting for. You just have to prepare for anything.”
Britain’s Got Talent will be airing every night this week at 8pm on ITV with the final taking place on Sunday.
