Mote’s chase falls short

The Mote suffered a 28-run home defeat to Linden Park in Kent League Division 1.

Viyaskanth Vijayakant­h (3-40) was the pick of the home side’s bowlers as Linden Park posted 208-9 from 50 overs.

Chris Back top-scored with 47 in reply but The Mote were 180 all out in the 48th over to leave them sixth.

In Division 2, Leeds & Broomfield were beaten by 72 runs against Ashford Town.

Clarry McCague (2-38), Max Aitken (2-16) and Edward Scrivens (2-31) got among the wickets, Ashford posting 187-7 from 50 overs.

Captain Max Aitken hit 44 in response, before he was run-out, as fifth-placed Leeds were all out for 115 in the 33rd over.

Division 3 frontrunne­rs Kings Hill hammered basement boys Upchurch.

Jake Bacon and Lachlan Crump struck centuries, finishing with 125 and 121, as they posted 334-9 from 50 overs.

Miles Richardson (6-9) and fellow opening bowler Bacon (3-34) then were in imperious form to restrict Upchurch to 51 all out in the 22nd over.

In Division 4, second-placed Staplehurs­t won at home to Borstal by 97 runs.

They posted 228-7 from 50 overs as Tom Henson and wicketkeep­er Tom Grinstead both finished on 61 - the latter being unbeaten.

George Sturges (4-19) was the pick of the bunch for Staplehurs­t to leave Borstal 131 all out.

Second-bottom Addington Village beat Offham by four wickets in Division 5.

Offham posted 143 all out in the 48th over, largely thanks to opener Sam Ward (33) and Julian Taylor’s 28. Best with the ball was Tom Wooding with 4-15.

Harry Legg (2-21) and Sam Willis (2-22) shone for Offham, however Chris Slater’s patient 43 saw the hosts win after 47 overs.

Fourth-placed The Mote 2nds won against Linden Park 2nds by 67 runs in Division 2.

Half-centuries from openers Glen Aukett (97) and Nathan Hinckley, with 59, got The Mote to 235-4 from 50 overs.

In reply, Abdul Majid Khan (2-24) and William Hodgson (2-35) helped restrict Linden Park to 168-8 from their allocation.

Third-placed Division 3 side Leeds & Broomfield 2nds edged past Ashford Town 2nds.

Neil Dibben’s 143 got Leeds to 243-8 from their 50 overs.

Dominic Smith (2-33) and Pieto Swart (2-40) helped to keep Ashford to 226-9 from 50 overs.

In Division 4, second-placed Kings Hill 2nds won against Bapchild 2nds.

Skipper Neil Taylor struck 74 to get Kings Hill to 191-9.

Hasham Khan shone for Kings Hill, ending with figures of 3-6, as Bapchild finished with 143 all out in the 41st over.

In Division 5, Offham 2nds posted 227-9 from 45 overs thanks to John Olufawo’s 64 while Addington Village’s Melvin

Mariyanaya­gam (3-37) and Umakanthan Shanmugana­than (3-40) did well.

Stuart Broom (24) top-scored in Addington’s reply, but figures of 6-38 from Offham’s Sam Tucker saw the Villagers dismissed in the 18th over for 72.

Third-placed Staplehurs­t lost by a wicket to second-spot Borstal. Mark Savage fired an unbeaten 88 to get Staplehurs­t to 197-6 from their 45 overs.

Savage (3-33) also shone with the ball but Borstal edged home with a ball to spare.

In Kent Regional League Division 6 Central, third-placed Kings Hill 3rds beat Orpington Ocelots 3rds (140) by six wickets.

An unbeaten 55 from Gregg Vine saw Kings Hill home in the 25th over.
