White so close to a ton

Captain Matt White fell two runs short of a century as The Mote beat Bromley Common in Kent League Division 1.

White’s knock of 98 came off 163 balls and featured 15 fours and a six, while Michael Ruffell added 44 as the Maidstone side closed 50 overs on 244-5.

Abdul Khan took 4-45 as Bromley Common slipped to 176 all out in reply, The Mote winners by 68 runs.

Leeds & Broomfield beat Division 2 promotion rivals Broadstair­s by three wickets.

Tom Parsons, Phil Semmens and Michael Ho each took two wickets as the Seasiders were bowled out for 175.

Max Aitken made 65 off 88 balls in reply before Monte McCague (35 not out) saw Leeds home.

Kings Hill remain top of Division 3 after an eight-wicket success at Gravesend.

Jake Bacon (3-31) and Ross Allen (2-16) were the leading bowlers as Gravesend were held to 176-9.

Richard Nicol (81 not out) and Miles Richardson (67 not out) batted well as Kings Hill won with 12 overs to spare.

In Division 4, Staplehurs­t were seven-wicket winners over High

Halstow. Sam McConnel (3-32) and two wickets apiece for Tom Henson and Simon Hunter saw Halstow all out for 116.

Staplehurs­t lost three early wickets before Henson’s unbeaten 68.

Ben Gittings made an unbeaten 116 as Offham beat Ash by 15 runs in Division 5.

James Tricker added 40 not out in a total of 259-3 before Daniel Blakeburn’s 4-46 saw Ash fall short on 244.

Addington Village lost to Sibton Park by 94 runs. The hosts closed on 279-6 - Matthew Webb taking 2-37 - with Addington 185 all out after 40 apiece from Jack Sopp and Harry Grinstead.

The Mote were big winners over Whitstable in Division 2 of the 2nd XI league.

Daniel Mason hit 79 off 61 balls in a Mote total of 240-7 and they won by 140 runs after four wickets for Viyaskanth Vijayakant­h saw Whitstable dismissed for 100.

Leeds & Broomfield 2nds eased to a nine-wicket victory over Upchurch in Division 3.

Matthew Mustill took three wickets as Upchurch were skittled for 76.

Clarry McCague made an unbeaten 56 off 27 balls in reply.

King Hill 2nds edged Nonington by eight runs in Division 4.

The top three of Neil Taylor (40), Neil Scott and Thomas McGeorge (both 42) led the hosts to 199-9.

Nonington wound up on 1918, Jack Cook restrictin­g their progress with figures of 3-35.

In Division 5, Staplehurs­t 2nds lost to Old Roan by 23 runs. They were held to 188-8 replying to 211-8, despite 72 from Fahad Masood.

Offham 2nds were bowled out for 111 in an eight-wicket defeat by Holcombe & Blue Bell Hill.

Addington Village 2nds were edged by two wickets after closing on 153-8 against Borstal.

Steve Merralls took 5-21 but Borstal got over the line.
