Jesse’s heroics in vain

Frontrunne­rs St Lawrence & Highland Court proved too strong for The Mote on Saturday in Kent League Division 1 despite Jesse Christense­n’s fine display.

Phillip Apps (3-42) and Christense­n (3-56) got among the wickets for the hosts as St Lawrence posted 276-8 from 50 overs.

Christense­n (85) top scored in reply, while Daniel Mason got 50, but The Mote fell 16 runs short, leaving them sixth.

It was a similar story in Division 2, where leaders OD CUACO beat Leeds & Broomfield by 15 runs.

Monte McCague, with 3-46, was best with the ball for Leeds as OD CUACO reached 227-8.

Michael Ho (76) top-scored but Leeds & Broomfield were restricted to 212 all out and sit fourth in the table.

In Division 3, leaders Kings Hill earned a 115-run win over Chestfield.

Opener Richard Nicol scored 71 as they posted 205 all out before the bowlers did the rest.

Shaun McMurray (4-17), supported by Rhys Morgan (3-6) and Ross Allen (2-34), didn’t let Chestfield get away and they were skittled out for 90.

Second-placed Staplehurs­t beat Bapchild by 85 runs in Division 4.

George Sturges (70) and Nathan Smith (64 not out) led them to 285-7.

Opening bowler Sturges, with 3-28, and Caleb Futter’s 3-42 then left Bapchild 200 all out and steered their side to victory.

In Division 5, Offham claimed a 97-run success against Gore Court.

Half-centuries from skipper

Harry Legg (56) and Ben Gittings (50) helped them post 260-8.

In reply, Gore Court were 163 all out in the 43rd over. Opening bowler Daniel Blakeburn (4-29) was the pick of the bowlers for Offham, who are sixth.

Frontrunne­rs Chislehurs­t & West Kent hammered secondbott­om Addington Village in the same division.

The hosts reached 348-7 despite the best efforts of James Worrall (3-56).

Opener Harry Grinstead scored 44 but Addington Village were 183 all out in the 44th over.

The Mote 2nds suffered a narrow Division 2 loss to Catford Wanderers 2nds.

Opening bowler Glen Aukett (3-27) got among the wickets to leave Catford 196-9.

Viyaskanth Vijayakant­h hit 50, however his side were dismissed for 188.

Leaders Leeds & Broomfield 2nds proved too strong for Orpington 2nds in their Division 3 encounter.

Openers Justin Hubbard (102) and Ben Davis (89) helped guide them to 274-3.

There were three wickets apiece in reply for Alex Czabaniuk, 3-20, and Marcus Prime (3-38) as Orpington were restricted to 182 all out.

In Division 4, Kings Hill 2nds thrashed Cobham 2nds on their own turf.

Opener Lucas Fawell (51) topscored to get them to 202 all out in the 36th over before Cobham were skittled out for just 43.

Jack Cook, with 5-9, and Ben Buet’s 4-11 did most of the damage.

Offham 2nds won their Division 5 clash against Gore Court 2nds.

Fielding first, Sam Tucker (3-31) was best for Offham as Gore Court set 181 for victory.

It was a total which Offham made in the 35th over with six wickets in hand, Neil Willis (43 not out) top-scoring.

Third-placed Staplehurs­t 2nds lost their Division 5 game against Holcombe & Blue Bell Hill 2nds.

Gez Saunders (3-20) and Struben Savage (3-28) got among the wickets as Holcombe & Blue Bell Hill reached 168 all out.

Bill Betts’ 42 got the visitors off to a decent start but they failed to build on it and were 128 all out in the 39th over.

In the same division, Division 5 basement boys Addington Village 2nds were beaten by The Roebucks 2nds.

Matthew Webb (48), supported by captain Ryan Lucas (45), got Addington Village to 157-9 from their 45 overs.

But despite Webb (2-14), doing well, The Roebucks got home with eight wickets to spare.
