Country pub for sale

-

Popular country pub The Tiger Inn at Stowting has been put on the market for £800,000.

The business in Scots Lane is described as a “popular destination pub with a strong local following” that prides itself on quality food, cask ales and a friendly atmosphere.

Christie & Co, who are marketing the pub, said it is presented in excellent order, with a main bar and restaurant areas having had a full refurbishment in recent months.

There is also two- bedroom manager’s accommodation on the first floor.

Robert Cockayne, of Christie, said: “The Tiger Inn truly is very much what you would think of as a traditional English pub.

“It would suit either an experienced operator looking to expand their portfolio or someone looking for their first pub.”

The pub is thought to be more than 250 years old. Although the origin of its name is unclear, the local legend is that villagers once caught an escaped tiger using a tablecloth.

Before being renamed the Tiger in 1980, the pub was known as the Anchor.

The freehold is available for an asking price of £800,000.
