Cycle parking bid for rail passengers

-

Southeastern have applied for permission to provide a new parking facility for people riding bikes to and from Ashford railway station.

The scheme would increase bicycle parking at Ashford station by an additional 150 spaces – increasing the number to 382.

A spokesman for Southeastern said: “With an increasing number people choosing to cycle to the station to link in with train services, we’re looking at options to provide more space for customers to safely store their bikes.

“The plans require approval before we can process to tender, but we hope to locate the parking near Car Park A.

“Last year we launched a Brompton Dock bike hire scheme at the station, so this proposal is another example of how we’re investing in improved services for our customers.”

A decision is expected on the scheme by February 24.
