‘I’ve never defaulted on a payment’

-

A single mother who is on maternity leave from her job says she is among the tenants being evicted by the Wilsons.

Gemma Jupe was in receipt of housing benefits when she moved into a property owned by the Wilsons in Park Farm in Ashford in April.

Despite this, the care worker says she was assured it would not be an issue, provided she always paid her rent on time and looked after the property.

But she was served a Section 21 notice to leave the property in November, nine days after giving birth to her second daughter.

Miss Jupe, 25, said: “I’m sickened by it, it’s really stressful, especially being on my own. It’s a nightmare.

“I can understand why he is doing it to a degree but for tenants who’ve never had any problems, they should just let us be. I’ve never defaulted on a payment and it’s a shame that everyone has been put in the same boat.

“I’m very fortunate that I’ve got family I can move in with, but not everyone has that option.”
