A track record of wiping out the past

I read with interest the article concerning the redevelopment of the Kent Wool Growers site in Tannery Lane (KE, December 26), and it seems, that the present council, as with previous town councils, has little or no regard for anything historic to do with the town.

These proposals are just the latest which threaten to wipe out glimpses of Ashford’s past. This after the near total destruction of the railway works which could have been put to far better use, utilising the original buildings. What will be the next monstrosity to get the go ahead?
