Funding help for wartime anniversaries
Communities interested in marking the major anniversaries of the two world wars can apply for funding.
Ashford Borough Council is inviting applications from groups planning projects to commemorate the centenary of the First World War this year and the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in 2015.
Grants of between £100 and £750 are available for one-off education or heritage projects.
Nominations can be made by non-profit making community groups and voluntary groups, community interest companies, local branches of registered charities, and town/parish councils.
Funding is available for projects that explore such wartime themes as the experiences of residents who fought in the wars, how local communities contributed to the war effort, how local landscapes were affected by the wars, the restoration of historical documentation and collections linked to the wars, the documentation of people’s experiences and memories, and the restoration of war memorials.
Statutory organisations, private companies and individuals are not eligible to apply.
