Singers’ carols windfall
Ashford Choral Society’s carol singing efforts have raised £1,500 for charity. Continuing more than 40 years of tradition, choral society members travelled around Ashford and its surrounding villages in December to sing carols and raise funds. In the week before Christmas, choristers sang by invitation at venues including Eastwell Manor at Boughton Lees and Perry Court Farm in Bilting near Wye. Money raised during these visits, as well as the retiring collection at the annual carol concert held at Ashford’s St Mary’s Church on December 21, totalled £1,500 – nearly £400 more than last year’s efforts. The money will be divided between Ashford Food Bank and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
