Do you have what it takes for festival?

- By Tim Collins

tcollins@thekmgroup.co.uk Budding rock stars and DJs could be in with a chance of performing at Ashford’s Create festival this summer.

The organisers are eager to hear from bands, DJs, singersongwriters and musicians of all genres keen to make their mark.

Last year’s Create broke all records, with more than 13,000 people flocking to Victoria Park in Ashford to see local acts perform alongside headliners Dodgy.

Festival organiser Chris Dixon said: “Ashford is really starting to establish itself as a place for year-round, high profile music.

“Create will aim to be the centrepiece, packing in the best of Ashford’s arts as well as music from around the region into one spectacular day. If you think you’ve got what it takes, don’t miss your chance.”

The festival, on Sunday, July 27, will be suitable for all ages, with home-grown talent alongside big name musicians and theatrical and spoken word acts.

There will also be a show at St Mary’s Church in the town centre, sponsored by Right Track Music, with a high profile headline act supported by local bands.

This year, the festival will have a ‘Create for Create’ theme, with performers, music lovers and others chal- lenged to create something unique before the festival, from crafts to video blogs.

The headline acts will be announced in the coming months. The closing date for entries for support slots is noon on Monday, March 10.
