Man sentenced for assault

An Ashford man was handed an 18-week suspended sentence for assaulting a man and threatening another.

Darren King, 44, of Linden Road, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared before Channel Magistrates Court in Folkestone.

King was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison but this was suspended for two years and he was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

He was also told to pay £400 in compensation and a total of £170 in costs.
