Green travel champs’ day at the castle

-

Pupils from Ashford have been rewarded for creating the biggest buzz around eco-friendly travel in the district.

Youngsters from St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School were named best Green Champions in the Ashford area at a presentation at Leeds Castle. The children received limited edition Green Champion T-shirts for organising activities that generated the most excitement among pupils about walking, cycling or scootering to school.

The judges were impressed by the school council at St Teresa’s, which organised a poster competition to promote green travel. The posters are now on display in each classroom at the school.

Green Champions is part of the award-winning KM Walk to School initiative led by Kent County Council and supported by Ashford Borough Council, Mini Babybel, Specsavers, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Countrystyle Recycling and Eurostar.

Teachers who would like to register their schools for any of the KM Walk to School projects, including Walk on Wednesday and Active Bug, should call Louise Rogerson on 0844 2640291.
