Security alert over suitcase found in street

An unattended suitcase found in Ashford town centre sparked a police alert.

It was reported at 10.15am on Monday that the suitcase had been left in the Lower High Street, near the fountain.

Officers attended the scene and checked the bag, but found it empty.

A spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at just after 10.15am on Monday to a report of an unattended suitcase in High Street, Ashford.

“Officers attended and the suitcase was checked and found to be empty.”

The suitcase was taken away by the officers called to the scene.
