Skipper Wise leads from the front

Kent Regional League

-

Skipper Stuart Wise hit 19 fours and a six in his 132 as Wye made an impressive 309-3 to beat bottom side Lordswood 3rds by 197 runs on Saturday. The win leaves them third – 17 points behind joint 1A Central leaders Holcombe & Blue Bell Hill – with three games left. Joe Elgar (50) supported fellow opener Wise well in a big first-wicket stand, as they plundered the visiting attack with five bowlers conceding 180 runs off 22 overs. Elgar (3-24) and two wickets each for Ian Lewis and Phil Wise helped dismiss the Medway club for only 112 in just 28.1 overs. Kennington fielded only 10 men as they slumped to a 14-run defeat at Ramsgate Corinthians in Division 1A East. Joe Jolley, Ian Hughes and Jamie Carroll all took three wickets as the Thanet side totalled 149. Being one man short proved costly as the Ashford side dipped from a match-winning position at 124-5 to lose five wickets for nine runs on their way to 135 all out. Willesborough claimed the points after 1B East opponents Sturry conceded.
