Mums’ new business is hoping to entertain us

- By Vicky Castle

Two mums from Ashford have set up their own events company in a bid to bring a more varied nightlife to the town.

Natasha Cole, 31, from Bridgefield and Kelly Bridge, 33, from Park Farm have created Plan.It K events and will be holding their first big event in October.

The duo, who met on parenting website netmums four years ago, want to provide a more diverse range of evening activities for adults and are kicking things off with a hypnotist comedy night.

Kelly said: “At our age you don’t always want to meet your friends at the pub, so we thought regular different events would be a good way to get a group together.

“We are looking for something really different for the Ashford market to give people a reason to have a big meet up.”

NHS worker, Kelly, who is cur- rently on maternity leave, has two children aged nine months and three while office manager Natasha has a four-year-old of her own.

Despite having to juggle family life, parenting duties and careers, the pair find free evenings or weekends to run the business and Kelly says they often end up taking their laptops to the pub.

She added: “We usually work from the study at my house but we will sometimes take our laptops down to the pub during the evenings.

“It has always been Natasha’s dream to set up an events company and I am very much a planning sort of person so we thought we would give a go.

“We held a few mini events to see how we got on working together and we worked brilliantly so we decided to go for it and try something a bit bigger.”

The first event, a comedy hypnotist show with Chris Gilles will be held on Saturday, October 18 at the Julie Rose Stadium.

But while the women have some ideas up their sleeve for future events, they say they are keen to hear from local residents about the sort of shows missing from the town.

Kelly said: “We are really interested to hear what the people of Ashford want to see and are especially open to ideas for Christmas events.”
