Thug jailed after vicious attack on his ex-girlfriend

Three-year sentence is violent 23-year-old’s third prison term in six years

- By Paul Hooper

Mouthy Mouizz Boumnijel spent his half-hour in court showing his total contempt for the justice system.

First of all the arrogant thug corrected a clerk who mispronounced his surname.

Then he refused to sit down as details of how the burly 23-yearold thug punched a terrified and defenceless lover 15 times were outlined.

And as prosecutor Donna East opened the case, he began shouting out before breathing on the security glass in the dock and drawing with his finger.

Eventually the judge threatened to have security staff take him back to the cells unless he stopped interrupting proceedings.

Even as he was being led away from Canterbury Crown Court to start his third prison term in six years, Boumnijel was still spitting insults at staff.

He was jailed for three years after admitting assaulting exlover Laura Love and stealing her mobile phone. A third charge of making threats to kill, which he denied, was left on the file.

Ms East told the court the couple had been in an “on-off” 18-month relationship which had involved violence.

In June she told him their love affair was over and changed the number of her mobile phone, but instead Boumnijel began sending abusive emails.

The prosecutor said she “rather foolishly” agreed to meet her ex- lover after he claimed he had mended his ways.

“But after meeting she realised he hadn’t changed and was never going to change. The next evening she went out with friends and began receiving numerous calls from the defendant, which turned into a text argument between the two.”

At 4am she was woken by Boumnijel banging on her front door demanding to be let inside and he then hit her over the head.

“She ran into the living room to get away from him but he carried on hitting her across the face and head, she believed at least 15 times,” added the prosecutor.

As t he t erri f i ed vi c t i m screamed for him to stop, the laughing thug grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the floor ripping out her hair extensions and mocking her by saying: “So much for your thick hair...I could kill you!”

Ms East said that after he grabbed his victim by the throat, Ms Love genuinely thought she was going to die.

She began to lose consciousness and pleaded with him to call for help...but all the callous bully did was pour cold water over her head before checking her mobile for text messages.

It was then that Ms Love fled her home and pleaded with her mother to call an ambulance.

Boumnijel was arrested but as he was being questioned “erupted in anger” claiming he was bored by the interview and was angry he had been disturbed in his police cell.
