Last-game victory secures promotion

Egerton secured promotion to Division 1 next season with a last-match 23-run victory at Worth.

Skipper Steve Wellard top scored with 63 as Egerton set a target of 190-8 and Robert Hills then picked up 4-36 to help restrict Worth to 167-9 in reply.

Challock ended their season with a five- wicket home defeat against Holborough Anchorians. Opener Matt Richardson (43) was the only Challock batsman to make any sort of score as they struggled to 112-8, a target which Anchorians passed with nearly half of their 40 overs to spare.

Woodchurch powered to the Division 3 title with a 10-wicket win at home to Loose.

The visitors, who only had 10 players, were dismissed for just 47, with Tom Richards and Saminda Senapathi claiming four wickets each. The Woodchurch openers then knocked off the required runs in 7.3 overs.

Aldington lost their final match by 20 runs at Benenden. A century by Matt Simpson enabled the home side to set a tough target of 296-6 but Aldington – led by Paul Rodway (93) and Dan Cowell (75) – made a brave attempt to overhaul it before finishing on 272-7.

In Division 4, Pluckley gained a seven-wicket success over Little Chart. Skipper Chris Eccles made 60 out of Little Chart’s all out total of 167, with Bret Symonds taking 4-35 for Pluckley who replied with 168-3.

Stowting suffered a 164-run defeat at Staplehurs­t, who scored 272-3 and then bowled Stowting out for 108.

Mersham Le Hatch could only field 10 players at Teston and suffered a 23-run defeat. Chasing a Teston target of 179-6, they were bowled out for 156.

Wye went down by six wickets at home to Selling, who secured the Division 4 title. Wye made 154-9 batting first, a total which Selling passed with 4.1 overs to spare.

In Division 5 Mersham Sports scored a narrow nine-run win at Borstal. Skipper Kyle McAlister led the way with 83 in their all out total of 162, which proved just enough as Borstal were bowled out for 154.

Charing lost by 50 runs at home to Offham, who scored 214-5 and then restricted the home side to 214-5, Tim Chambers top scoring with 50.

Bilsington conceded their match with Great Chart.

In Division 6, three Kingsnorth players – Luke Laws, Syed Muazan Ali and Nick Mantell – all hit half centuries in the 35-run victory over Littlebour­ne 2nds. Kingsnorth made 229-7 and then restricted Littlebour­ne to 194-8, with Chris Gower grabbing 4-46.

Rolvenden were handed a walkover by Exiles in Bridge 2nds in their Division 7 match.
