Organisers look to future after success of children’s market

-

Circus skills stole the show at Ashford’s first baby and children’s indoor market on Saturday.

Held at the Enterprise Centre at Towers School, the event was run by the Ashford and Tenterden branch of Cheeki Monkeys, a national group for parents and expectant parents to buy and sell used toys and clothes for their little ones. It was deemed a big success.

Jo Sheldrick, one of the organisers, said: “For the first one, it went very well and the stallholders were very happy.

“Asda got behind us, which is fantastic. We had probably about 130 people through the door, so that’s not bad for the first one.

“TK Arts did circus skills and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

“It’s going to be monthly. We’re looking at doing one in Ashford and one in Tenterden, but we’re looking for a venue in Tenterden.” Events going on for youngsters included a circus skills workshop, face painting and colouring tables as well as a soft play area.
