Business moves into bigger home

-

A company specialising in engraving is making its mark – and has moved to larger commercial premises in Woodchurch.

National Engravers was started in 2011 by husband and wife Greg and Anna McCarthy.

The firm has risen from humble beginnings, operating out of a small farm unit at Shadoxhurst with just one machine.

Its big name clients now include General Electric, 3M and Eurotunnel.

The firm has partnered with Hyphenalia to engrave memorial plaques with QR codes. People scanning the codes can find out the life story of the deceased by using an app and hovering their smart phone camera over the image.

Greg, 44, said: “I used to sell engraving machines and demonstrated them so I learnt the skills involved – then I thought that I should be doing it myself.”

The firm produces manufacturing signage and also does traditional trophy engraving. It also has a website where gifts can be personalised.

The range of materials used includes glass, stainless steel, aluminium, wood and plastic, and the company now has a laser machine and digital printer among its equipment range.
