Reading fairy enchants children

-

Youngsters enjoyed a morning of activities such as reading and games based around the children’s book series Hairy Maclary.

Emily Guille-Marrett, known as the Reading Fairy, entertained youngsters during a sessions held last Friday at the Gateway Plus in Church Road, Ashford as part of the library’s half term activities.

The children enjoyed a story time and also took park in games as well as arts and crafts, where they were able to make their own Hairy Maclary.

Emily said: “As a mum myself, I know it can be difficult to find time to sit down together and read, especially with distractions like phones, tablets and the television.

“But reading books together is so rewarding and the knockon effect of improving a child’s ability to learn is huge.”

She offers regular activity classes, holiday workshops and even Reading Fairy parties.
