Art works to build pride in creations

-

Adults with learning difficulties showed off their artistic skills at an exhibition last weekend.

They displayed pieces at Stubbs Cross Village Hall which they have been working on from their day centre classes run by Helga Picknell, including feltwork, paintings and other artwork.

She said: “The exhibition was brilliant and a huge success. Hundreds of people came in over two days.

“It was important because mainly I teach adults with special needs. It was just lovely to see them with their families, friends and carers and see their faces light up. It’s a lovely feeling to see them all proud of what they’ve achieved.

“We definitely made over £1,000 and the main reason was to raise money and buy equipment like iPads to help with their skills.”

A donation will also be made to Help for Heroes.

Helga is looking for anyone with artistic skills, particularly sewing, and other volunteers.
