WHITE’S GOAL IN VAIN AS RIVALS TAKE THEIR CHANCE TO MOVE UP

Annie White scored for Ashford ladies, who went down 3-1 at Burnt Ash in East Women’s League, Division 2 South.

As a result, they were leapfrogge­d by their opponents, with Ashford slipping to third from bottom.

On Saturday they have a home match against bottom club Tunbridge Wells 2nds. Dee Lulham scored twice as the 2nds won 5-0 at home to Tunbridge Wells 3rds in Kent Division 1.

Hayley Smith, skipper Becky Hover and Jodie Tanton – with her first of the season – scored the other goals.

They take on second-placed New Beccehamia­n on Saturday.

Linda Charlton scored twice for the 3rds who won 4-3 at Deal, to move three points clear at the top of Kent Division 2.

Sally Bulgin had a solid game in defence, while goalkeeper Sara Andrews earned her side maximum points with a fine save.
