Kentish Express Ashford & District
£2,000 boost for Guide Dogs
A sponsored dog walk raised more than £2,000 for Guide Dogs – the Kentish Express charity of the year.
More than 85 devoted dog walkers and their pets assembled at Godmersham Park on Sunday, August 23, to raise funds for the charity.
Land owners Sunley Farms and occupiers the Association of British Dispensing Opti- cians (ABDO) College opened the grounds for the event.
Walkers were asked to raise a minimum of £35 each, which is enough to support a guide dog partnership for a week.
Each dog sported a superhero cape and took off on either the two-mile or fourmile course.
Stephen Fryer, Ashford Guide Dogs branch organ- iser, said: “What a rewarding event. The help of the Women’s Institute, and the Rotary Club of Ashford which ran the car park, and the enthusiastic support of the landowner and ABDO, were invaluable.
“The dogs who took part are real heroes. We have witnessed dogs helping dogs, in fact – dogs united!” Visit www.guidedogs.org.uk
