Ransley in the semis

Rowing

-

Ashford rower Tom Ransley and his teammates have made it through to today’s (Thursday) World Championships men’s four semi-final in France. Facing a last-chance repechage on Tuesday, the Great Britain quartet of Ransley, Scott Durant, Alan Sinclair and Stewart Innes trailed Argentina early on but came through to take the lead just before halfway. Behind them, the Spanish also surged past Argentina but were not able to pass the GB crew, who won in a time of 5.54.95. France, to the chagrin of the Aiguebelette crowd, were edged out by Spain at the line. The event doubles as the Olympic and Paralympic qualifying regatta, with the top 11 boats from the men’s four making it to Rio.

1 Great Britain (Tom Ransley, Scott Durant, Alan Sinclair and Stewart Innes) 5.54.95, 2 Spain 5.56.27; 3 France 5.56.95, 4 Argentina 6.08.30, 5 Austria 6.11.94
