Ash­ford rower Tom Rans­ley and his team­mates have made it through to to­day’s (Thurs­day) World Cham­pi­onships men’s four semi-fi­nal in France. Fac­ing a last-chance repechage on Tues­day, the Great Bri­tain quar­tet of Rans­ley, Scott Du­rant, Alan Sin­clair and Stewart Innes trailed Ar­gentina early on but came through to take the lead just be­fore half­way. Be­hind them, the Span­ish also surged past Ar­gentina but were not able to pass the GB crew, who won in a time of 5.54.95. France, to the cha­grin of the Aigue­belette crowd, were edged out by Spain at the line. The event dou­bles as the Olympic and Par­a­lympic qual­i­fy­ing re­gatta, with the top 11 boats from the men’s four mak­ing it to Rio.
