Ashley Cook took seven wickets against Holcombe & Blue Bell Hill as Mersham Sports closed in on the Championsh­ip East title.

They’re 12 points clear of Kings Hill going into the final game of the season at home to St Margaret’s on Saturday.

Opener David Harman top scored with 76 in the leaders’ total of 183-7. Cook finished with 7-24 as Mersham bowled out Holcombe for 48 to clinch victory by 135 runs.

Boughton & Eastwell’s Division 1A Central promotion hopes ended with defeat by The Mote 3rds.

They were bowled out for only 68 on a difficult day for the batsmen. David Gray (3-15) kept the game alive before The Mote completed a five-wicket win.

Wye lost to champions Borstal by seven wickets.

Robert Banks top scored with 49 in Wye’s total of 149-9.

Keith Secrett took two of the three Borstal wickets to fall.

Promoted Kennington 2nds eased to a nine-wicket success against Littlebour­ne 3rds in Division 1C East. Dave Philpott (4-19) led the way as nine-man Littlebour­ne were bowled out for 80.

Peter Grant was unbeaten on 39 as Kennington won inside 25 overs.

Mersham Sports 2nds beat Holcombe & Blue Bell Hill 2nds by six runs in Division 2A East.

John Harman (3-26) was the pick of the bowlers as Mersham restricted Holcombe to 135-9 in reply to 141-8.

Willesboro­ugh made 211-6 against Littlebour­ne 2nds in Division 2B East but lost by three wickets.

Boughton & Eastwell 2nds conceded their Division 2C East game against Milstead 2nds.
