THE LAW GOVERNING GUN USE

It is illegal to sell an airsoft BB gun or ammunition to anyone under the age of 18, or for under-18s to buy one.

Under-18s can only possess a weapon if they are being supervised at a rifle club or miniature rifle range by an adult over the age of 21.

For adults, carrying an air rifle or BB gun in public without a reasonable excuse is an offence which could carry a one-year prison sentence. It is also illegal to fire a BB gun over or into a boundary without a landowner’s permission, and carries a fine of up to £1,000.
