Water sports day at lakes

Visitors are being offered the chance to sample a range of water sports at Conningbrook Lakes open day on Saturday.

The event will allow people to have a go at canoeing, paddle boarding, rowing, water zorbing, archery, cycling and angling.

The new country park is located next to the Julie Rose Stadium in Willesborough.

Children can enjoy face painting, mini kids athletics and other activities put on by the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership and The Conservation Volunteers.

Visitors can enjoy a guided walk around the park with Kent Wildlife Trust – and for the health conscious there will be free health checks and membership offers from Ashford Leisure Trust.

The day will also feature stalls, including one from Ashford farmers’ market, and musical entertainment.

The event and all activities on offer are free, although age restrictions apply for some water-based activities.
