Nelmes and Hawkins taste sin­gles suc­cess

Sev­eral play­ers won two ti­tles at Ten­ter­den BC’s fi­nals week­end. Mal­colm Nelmes tri­umphed in the men’s sin­gles and the sin­gles hand­i­cap, while Gill Hawkes won the women’s cham­pi­onship and part­nered Tony Mas­ters to vic­tory in the mixed pairs. Mas­ters tasted in­di­vid­ual glory in the Two Woods while Ann Walker won the 100-Up and joined forces with Jenny Crick­more-Porter and Terry Pick­ford to take the mixed triples. The Mi­nor Sin­gles went to Peter Hog­a­rth, with Carol James lift­ing the Vet­er­ans Cup. Brian Cochrane com­pleted the list of win­ners by claim­ing the John Young Tro­phy. Ten­ter­den went down 71-60 to Nor­thiam in the Mer­maid League but beat Ten­ter­den 65-57 Pe­nen­den Heath in a friendly. Their match against the Parkin­son’s So­ci­ety was rained off.
