Help tails to wag at big charity quiz night
A charity is urging Kentish Express readers to help boost puppy power by booking a team for the KM Big Charity Quiz.
Guide Dogs for the Blind – this paper’s charity of the year for 2015 – is hoping for a muchneeded cash windfall from the quiz being staged on Friday, October 16, at the Stour Centre, Ashford.
Susie New. from the Ashford branch of the charity, said: “A share of the funds raised from this lovely event is going towards training more guide dog puppies and helping more blind people around the UK get out and about and be more independent in their lives.
“Come along and have some fun! It’s going to be brilliant and it’s all for a good cause.”
The price of £65 per team of eight includes a drink on arrival, ploughman’s supper and entry into a prize draw to win a P&O Ferries voucher.
A discount code is also available for Kentish Express readers giving a £10 reduction on the price and a bottle of wine for the team’s table.
Along with brainteasers and banter, quiz-goers can expect top prizes to be won including classic collectables from Hornby and £100 in cash.
Shepherd Neame will be stocking the charity bar while Barclays staff take on barkeeper duties. Other businesses backing the event include Specsavers, HR GO and Hallett and Co.
Also receiving a share of the proceeds are Kent Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre and road safety services for children.
Event organiser Dominic Comins, of the KM Charity Team, said: “If you’re going to take part in just one quiz this year make it the KM Big Quiz.
“It’s our 10th anniversary event and we’ve got a special night in store.
“With Barclays bank matching every penny in the charity pot this will make a huge difference to good causes.
“Last year we raised more than £6,500 for charity and with your help we could smash that figure.”
