We’re off to climb Snowdon
A group of primary school staff will be hiking up Mount Snowdon to raise cash for charity.
The team from Phoenix Community Primary School, in Belmont Road, Ashford, are raising money for CLIC Sargent, the cancer charity for children, young people and their families.
The intrepid team is made up of Shaun King, Diane Davis, Sharon Penfold, James Tibbles, Hilary McGrath, Vicky Murphy, Rachel Leavey, Rachel Turner, Claire Sledger, Dena Bebell, Michelle Downey, Becky Hindle, Donna Rogers and Laura Uprichard.
They’ll be taking on Wales’ highest mountain on Thursday, October 29.
School office manager Diane Davis said: “September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we have decided that throughout the course of this term, we will be raising money for the CLIC Sargent charity.
“There will be other fundraising events planned, but we’ve been talking for a while now about hiking up Mount Snowdon.
“We have finally set a date and, at the moment, we have 16 members of staff who are mentally and physically preparing for this challenge.
“We even have previous staff getting involved, Laura Uprichard is returning from Ireland to join us!
“We are all really looking forward to the challenge and this is something that most of us haven’t done before.”
