Brown at his best over 10 miles

Anthony Brown produced Ashford Road Running Club’s stand-out performanc­e in the Sittingbou­rne 10-mile road race on Sunday.

Running on a undulating course around the country lanes outside the town, Brown broke his own personal best, going under 70 minutes for the first time over the distance as he finished 51st in a time of 69 minutes 1 second.

Scott Lynch was the first club member home, finishing 27th in a time of 65.37.

Rhian Shrimpton, followed up her Folkestone halfmarath­on run the week before, coming home in 85.32.

Paul Brasington lined up in a field of more than 1,000 at the Tonbridge Half-Marathon.

Another undulating course took the runners through the village of Leigh, with Brasington finishing 172nd place in 1:40.27.

Helen Weeden warmed up for her Dublin Marathon date later this month, finishing in 2:03.18.

Paul Moses was runner-up in the 100th Ashford parkrun.

He finished in a time of 19.07, followed home by Pat Butler in fourth (19.14) and Rob Carpenter sixth in (19.27).

Scott Lynch was 14th (20.58), with Christine Costiff first lady home in 21.43.

Other finishers were Steve Hickman (23.49), Lisa Bracken (seventh lady home in 24.18), Sue Reader (13th lady, 26.15).
