One Ashford mother, who asked not to be named, witnessed the terrible scene.
She said: “I had just come out of Tesco and saw the car hit six posts, a couple of cars and then the poor lady.
“There was a girl and a baby in a red car, which was hit first, and it pushed the car into another car with a load of force.
“The lady on the floor actually sat up just after the accident, then she passed out.
“At first people didn’t realise the girl and her baby in the first car had been hurt because they were looking after the lady on the floor.
“But then someone came running over saying ‘help her.’
“She was taken off by an ambulance with her baby.
“All I could think was ‘oh my god, oh my god’.
“What do you do? Everyone rushed over to help her.
“It was just awful to see and it happened so quickly. That poor woman, what her family must be going through.
“I can’t even begin to imagine if that was a member of my family.”
