Warning for lorry drivers

Long distance lorry drivers are urged to plan their journeys and rest breaks or face fines if they park illegally.

Kent Police and Highways England have been moving on, fining and clamping HGV drivers parked on hard shoulders or motorway slip roads.

In two weeks between Friday, January 22 and Friday, February 5, officers issued 117 fines to dangerousl­y parked drivers and moved on 210 lorries.

Ch Insp Vaghan Lukey, from Kent Police, said: “Our message is simple; long distance drivers should plan their journeys and factor in rest breaks at safe and legal locations.”
