Warn­ing for lorry driv­ers

Long dis­tance lorry driv­ers are urged to plan their jour­neys and rest breaks or face fines if they park il­le­gally.

Kent Po­lice and High­ways Eng­land have been mov­ing on, fin­ing and clamp­ing HGV driv­ers parked on hard shoul­ders or mo­tor­way slip roads.

In two weeks be­tween Fri­day, Jan­uary 22 and Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 5, of­fi­cers is­sued 117 fines to dan­ger­ously parked driv­ers and moved on 210 lor­ries.

Ch Insp Vaghan Lukey, from Kent Po­lice, said: “Our mes­sage is sim­ple; long dis­tance driv­ers should plan their jour­neys and fac­tor in rest breaks at safe and le­gal lo­ca­tions.”
