No action taken against speedsters

-

I could not agree more with readers Caroline Buckley, Shelley Stubblefield and Christopher Smith (Points of view, KE, February 11) regarding vehicles speeding on the A28.

I live on the straight stretch of road between Gascoigne Lane and The Martins. I complained to Kent Police about the speed all vehicles pass my property. Motorcycles drive in excess of 100mph and trucks and cars at speeds in excess of 70mph.

The reply I had was that it was the responsibility of the council and not the police.

With regards the motorcyclists using the A28 as a race track on Sunday morning I was told that “whilst aware of this activity, health and safety prohibits the police chasing them and in any case they remove their number plates so any units cannot photograph them”.

He went on to explain that until the fatality rates reach a certain level no measures can be taken by the police.

Looking for our councillors to do anything is a waste of time.
